Baby Germain is the size of a cantaloupe... Except mine is actually bigger than that since it's in the 86th percentile!
This week's craving: I just want a ton of fruit and juice and water. At this point all my cravings are seasonal things...
This week's aversion: I thought aversions were over, but I literally can not have eggs and the veggie sausages that I normally LOVE. I got sick with them too many times in the beginning of pregnancy and tried to have them yesterday and just brought back old memories. Raea loves them though and ate all mine. :)
MONDAY- 3.1 Miles- After a pretty busy Sunday last week (baby shower) I was totally ready to veg out on a Monday and just hang from home. This is my FIRST full week off from work so I was ALLLLL about doing NOTHING today. BUT I got a giftr in the mail from my teammate Cheryl, and it was a Wonder Woman sports bra! Just a few days before my pregnant runner idol, Alysia Montano, competed at 5 months pregnant in the USA Championships. She was wearing a wonder woman sports bra, too. ALSO, she started following me on Instagram... It just seemed appropriate that I squeeze in some easy miles after opening such a thoughtful gift! Thanks Cheryl! I managed to average 9:59/mi (!) which feels blazing fast these days!
TUESDAY- ZERO- I had every intention of running today... but it just kept getting away from me. I brought Raea to Daycare and came back with the plan to run, but then I put my head down for just a minute... and that minute turned into hours. I'm pregnant, and I'm not sure when I'll get my next nap. I was happy to take this opportunity. Matts boss was in town so we went to lunch and then it started POURING. The weirdest rain pattern ever! Pouring, then sunny, then stormy, then sunny... I picked up Raea from Daycare and it was sunny again so I started heading to the railtrail... Until the terrifying hail started. It was so bad I had to pull over under a large tree in fear that my windshield was going to break. There were thunderstorm warnings for the duration of the daylight... so I ate ice cream and happily watched the Bachelorette instead. I was very glad I got the 5k in the day before.
WEDNESDAY 3.2 at West Hartford Fleet Feet 9:32/mi. I had an emotionally charged day. I think not having work slowed me down enough that I felt the pressure of this upcoming change in our life like I hadn't quite felt before. I got changed to run at 11:00am, sulked for a long time, then decided that I had to just go with Matt to his fun run or I was never going to get it in. Fleet Feet West Hartford had a very big group run. Similar size to Sneakerama. The route isn't always the same so there is a little printed out piece of paper with directions, but I still don't like that stress, and I was way in the back. It was only a 2.5 mile run but everyone started faster than I wanted to go and so I think that set me up for a more painful run. I average under 10 most days, but starting at a 9:00/mi pace was just too hard. I stopped and walked for about 30 seconds after the first mile, and then continued. At this point people were slowing down so I felt more comfortable slowing down myself. I added on with a woman after who's son just graduated from Bentley.
THURSDAY: 5 miles at Sneakerama with Barbara 9:59/mi: Barbara must be one of my favorite people in the world. When I was about 15 I ran with her and could barely keep up! She's run in the Elite division of the Boston Marathon, and has always been dominant in New England. She surely could have run faster than me today, but man was it nice to not go alone! I worried about Raea all day for some reason... and when I got home she had a fever...but it literally must have been because she was sleeping in the car or something... because she was totally fine the next day.
FRIDAY: 6.1 Two loops around Lake Quannapowet in Wakefield 9:30/mi: I was supposed to run in the morning with my friend Cat, but because of Raeas fever the night before I over-reacted and cancelled at night (sorry Cat!) The whole morning I debated what plans to cancel and what to keep... but by 11:00 it was obvious Raea was totally fine. Matt got a call saying that his company car was FINALLY available, and it was on the North Shore, which happened to be where the bachelorette party I was debating on going to all morning was going to be... So off we went! Traffic is insane that way, as usual.... but especially bad because of the time of day and year (July 4th 5 day weekend!)... KILL ME. Matt and I had shaky plans for our run because who knows how long traffic takes, but we saw a window of opportunity to get out of the traffic, run around the lake, and then get back on the road when things died down a bit... and we took it. He did 8 with the stroller, I did 6.1... It took us pretty much the same amount of time. (okay, fine, me a bit longer). Then we ate at Whole Foods and I headed to paint night to celebrate Angelica getting married!
SATURDAY- 4 miles so slow (11:06). Another busy day where opportunity to run was scarce. Matt worked in the morning, so I ran at noon when he was done (so hot) and just looped fields to recover from the longer harder effort the day before. Then we went to a 30th birthday party, and Matt ran afterwards. Somehow we are both fitting this all in... I know I'm only running 4 miles, but it's taking me a good chunk of time. Not like what 4 non-pregnant miles would be!
SUNDAY- 5 Miles easy in the heat 9:53/mi: Another hot day, Matt working in the morning. I was supposed to meet Chrissy, but we never fully finalized our plans, and Raea woke up super late (which was AWESOME!) so I missed my opportunity there... but my sister Caroline came home from Ireland, and Raea and I were visiting my parents for the pool anyway... so I got my run in and then jumped in the pool! Phew!
**TOTAL MILES: 26.8**
Another weekly marathon DONE! but this might be my last. I'm going to try this upcoming week, but it will require much more careful planning. I have TWO back to back weddings. The first my husband is the officiant for so he'll be leaving early, and the second I am photographing... so that is pretty much an all day affair (except it's local and a brunch so still a *chance* I could run that day) Even if I'm able to fit in runs, I'll be exhausted, and it might not be worth it. I have to front load the week if I want to make it happen... Buuut I also want to do a good job with the photography, so I can't make myself too sore! I photographed a wedding this far a long last pregnancy and I photographed one at 37 weeks as well. It's not too bad during, but the next day I feel it.... so Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are going to be tough.
Pool Drills 3x this week.
Rolled out once. It's really hard.
Looking Forward To: WEDDINGS! Both because I love them, but also because I just want them to be over so that I can stop stressing that my water is going to break or that I'm going to sneeze and pee my pants, or that I'm going to miss a really important shot because the baby kicks distracted me or something. I'm sure it will all be fine, but even when I'm NOT pregnant I look forward to getting the weddings done. It's an excited kind of stress... I want to get to the final product and the processing phase where I can feel a sense of relief knowing that everything went fine!
Gender Prediction: Well, I'm thinking boy because a girl on Instagram (run4PRs) had the exact cravings as me as well as some other very similar stuff, and she just revealed boy. So... It's a boy. haha!

My goal is to:
a. inspire, empower, and share my story with others since there is VERY LITTLE on running and competing pregnant out there
b. Just to get my fat ass out the door each day and the more followers I have the more I feel like I have an obligation to go! Whatever works! Those of you following and commenting are helping me more than you know!
Thanks again for your support!
Welcome to my blog! I blogged my entire pregnancy in 2017 and I had high hopes for where I could take my running after baby number 2, but my body had other plans. At some point I got too discouraged to write and recently realized that it is essential for my personal growth and development to keep putting feelings into coherent(ish) thoughts. I still hope to run sub 2:45 in the marathon one day, but for now I’m trying to focus on the process and I’m learning to enjoy it. You can come along for the ride, apologies in advance for grammatical incorrectness!
