Baby Germain is the size of a butternut squash... This make sense to me.
This week's craving: No real strong cravings, just a constant need for food of all kind. I don't sleep through the night without hunger pain if I don't have something fatty before bed so I've had pastries and yogurt (not too much ice cream)... but in general I'm not "craving" those things... Just know that it helps me sleep if I have them
This week's aversion: Give me all the food.
MONDAY- 4 Treadmill Progression miles- When I looked at the busy week I had ahead of me, I thought about how far along in pregnancy I am at this point in time, I also thought "ya know, I think 30 weeks pregnant I can drop my goal down to a 30k"... I just didn't see how I could possibly get in 26.2 when I was so tired all the time, Matt was on the road, and Raea basically cried for every stroller run last week so I was hesitant to even put her in the stroller this week... BUT Monday I got lucky! She fell asleep, and unlike last time she stayed asleep. I called my husband and said "I'm just so tired, I think instead of running I'm going to take a nap. Who cares if I run 26.2 miles this week? No one cares, and I'm tired"... But as soon as I hung up I realized that I cared and that was enough to get me changed. I contemplated doing a workout since the miles go by faster and I had a race on the schedule for the weekend, but instead I decided on a progression run. My goal was 3 miles. I figured if I started at 12:00 pace and picked it up .2MPH every .25 I'd be finishing at a pretty challenging pace (for me) at this stage. When I got to 3 miles Raea was still sleeping so I increased .1MPH every .25 and finished at a sub 8:00/mi pace. I was pleased with myself for this effort!
TUESDAY- Off: Ya know, When it's raining and the weather report says "real feel 37 degrees" and you have to wear a winter coat and scarf to work... and it's raining... and your daughter had day care all day and is too damn cute to shove in a stroller on a cold day, and you're 30 weeks pregnant, you say "F- it, not today"
WEDNESDAY 3 miles in 27:47 with Caroline: Would it surprise you if I said this was yet another day I didn't feel like running? But it's Global Running Day... So, I talked Caroline into running with me (even though she's on her off season break) and I was glad I did. In the back of my mind I know it's still possible to hit 26.2 miles, but it's not probable I was just taking it one day at a time.
THURSDAY: 0 Miles: I considered a half day to get a run in as my friends Sumner and Dan were getting married... I went to bed very... early.... preparing a gift for their wedding (3am) and was also planning to photograph their wedding. I thoughtmaybe I could squeeze a run in, and in hindsight I probably could have... but it all worked out. At this point I thought "Oh well, Guess I'm not getting 26.2 miles this week"

FRIDAY: 8 Miles, 1:11:17, 8:54: I was still determined to hit my goal, so I ran 8 miles today. Knowing I'd have Matt not too far up the bike path, and that I wasn't going to have to push the stroller, or run hills made this decision easier. I also knew we were going straight to Whole Foods after for dinner and for a Sisu Project Leadership team meeting, so I knew I could get on my recovery game right away. I figured if I got in 8 today I could totally manage the next 11 that I owed. I was very happy with this run. I had some ligament pain at night, but I rolled out (as best you can at 30 weeks), and did all I could to take care of it.
SATURDAY- 6 Miles at just sub 11:00 pace. My hips felt okay, but to play it safe (since I have a race Sunday) I stayed insanely slow on campus looping grass fields and back trails. I also wanted to stay close to my parents house where Raea was with my sister Caroline. Raea was bit by a spider or something at night and had swelling that made her entire eye completely shut from swelling! I gave her a small dose of Children's Benedryl and it went down while I was running, fortunately.
SUNDAY- 5.5 I did no warm up for the race as it was already plenty warm... and I was trying not to take this so serious... but, I don't have an "easy" button... so I raced. This was much harder than the last stroller race... Mostly because of heat, but also there were way more turns and slight inclines that seemed mountainous. I finished 10th female overall in 26:50 (for what I think is 3.5 but other people got various distances on their garmins.... So not 100% sure) 4th in my Age Group. I ran for my friend Cat's team in honor of her father, we got third! and my husband got second place overall! As I recap this here I'm still feeling a little light headed as I simply ran faster than I should have pushing a stroller carrying a 31 week baby bump, and in 90 Degrees. I will do a full race recap later in the week.
**TOTAL MILES: 26.5
Another marathon down! Not sure if I'll stick with this goal or not. It's getting harder each week... Like I wrote about last week... I have ONE full week left of school so I'm hoping I can get 26.2 in this week and then after that it might get easier since I'll be done school...?
Additional Work: I know... Hard to believe, but Saturday... I GOT A NAP! Raea fell asleep for 2 hours from the Benadryl.... It was AMAZING and I really really needed it
I also rolled out this week after the 8 miler which is insanely hard these days!
Looking Forward To: School needs to end. Like it needed to end yesterday. It's so damn hard to do all this PLUS I'm packing all my materials for the new building. Exhausting!

Welcome to my blog! I blogged my entire pregnancy in 2017 and I had high hopes for where I could take my running after baby number 2, but my body had other plans. At some point I got too discouraged to write and recently realized that it is essential for my personal growth and development to keep putting feelings into coherent(ish) thoughts. I still hope to run sub 2:45 in the marathon one day, but for now I’m trying to focus on the process and I’m learning to enjoy it.
